Changes

Honestly, it's so crazy how fast your whole world can change. Last week was a rough one for me, I turned twenty and had to take a step back to fully look at my life. I remember sitting with my best friend over a lovely dinner that night and having one of the realest conversations I've had in a very long time. I mention her a lot on here but it's truly rare to find someone that you can really open up to who will not try to solve everything for you or pity you or judge. Dil is someone who will always listen. We always are there to listen to one another and it's something I'm entirely grateful for. We were sitting and discussing our current paths and I'd opened up about a lot of complacency and struggles in my work life. I don't have the most ideal job, being a personal assistant is very time consuming and you have to basically manage another person's life. We spoke about the anxiety of finding a new job and how it would be rather difficult. How change is evident but also so entirely challenging. It was a very real chat about the point in our lives and our wants and needs for the coming year.

The day after my birthday I happen upon a lady who I had babysat for years ago and she introduced me to her friend she was sitting with. I briefly mentioned that I was studying law in college and later found out her friend was a practicing attorney. It's so ironic as well because Dil and I were talking about how I wasn't really sure about my career direction and if that was truly what I wanted to be in the upcoming years. It was very up in the air and I didn't think too much about it. This woman I'd met informs me of a paralegal job position her friend was looking to fill. She passes on my information on a whim and I ponder the idea but don't really think too much into it. Two days later, I get a phone call asking me in for an interview. I mention quite honestly I'm only twenty and my real life experience is limited but the man offers me the interview nevertheless. I decided to entertain the thought and went to the interview on Monday. About two hours later, I walked out with the offer of a position at his firm.

It honestly just goes to show how drastically life can change any second. I find myself doing this quite a lot but we all waste so much time dreading the unhappiness or settling for something when there are all these beautiful chances and opportunities out there that we simply haven't explored yet. This week has been one of processing. I ended up taking the position at the firm and moved my personal assistant job down to part-time. I also did happen to get a raise in the assistant job which was a very nice bonus. This new financial stability was the push I was waiting for to start considering moving into my own place and honestly opens up so many different new doors. I wanted to put all this down into writing and just share this crazy new life adventure with ya'll. I'm starting at the new firm on Monday and hopefully everything will progress and go as planned. It's such a crazy thing, this whole roller coaster of life but it's worth it. It's incredibly incredibly worth it.

  1. Congrats on the job offer!! It's funny how things just seem to... happen at the right moment, sometimes. Like something will just fall into place in the weirdest, most casual way possible and it can completely change everything. I hope that more good things come your way - and that you remain positive about things too! :) :)
