January Favourites

Last month was all about getting back to the basics. I really focused in on becoming comfortable wearing little to no makeup and improving my skin. Two products that really stood out in the skincare department were Lush's Grease Lightning and the Glamglow Youthmud Treatment. Grease Lightning is an old favourite that I've just been reaching for every night before bed. I love that it has tea tree oil in it and it really just never disappoints. As for my Glamglow Mud Spot Treatment, I've been wanting to do a more in depth post about this little guy but for now let's just say it's a miracle worker.

January was also the month for trying out some new foundation base products and the Kat Von Dee Lock It Tattoo Concealer really just impressed me time and time again. I can even just use a tiny dollop of this and leave the house feeling confident and controlled with my skin. I've also began venturing into the cream contour side of makeup and a perfect starter trio for cream contouring is Smashbox's new Contour Sticks. These chubby sticks are so ideal for getting that beautiful natural contour and they're so easy I can't believe I've gone so long without them. Lastly, an old faithful was reintroduced into my everyday routine - Mac's Copperplate is probably the most versatile eyeshadow shade I've ever owned. It's a beautiful shadowy grey colour that is actually what I use to fill in my brows. This shade just works so well with my brow routine and as I've gotten back into using powders to fill in my sparse hairs I've really fallen back in love with this shade. It's also a gorgeous all around lid colour for green eyes and can even be an incredible transition shade for neutral to smokey looks. It's beautiful and probably my most used eyeshadow of all time.

That's about it for the products I've really been loving this past month. It's official February which is a month of excitement for me as big things are coming this month. I'm also turning twenty at the end of the month which is insane and a few days ago actually marked my one year point of being back in the states. I'm feeling a lot more positive lately and cannot wait to see what this month has in store for me. I hope you guys had a nice jump start to the year and here's to many more adventures to come.

  4. I have never tried glamglow, purely because it's far TOO expensive for me to justify a purchase. I have heard though from almost everyone who has it that it is a "miracle worker" just as you write. Perhaps I'll have to change my mind!! I actually just found a DIY "recipe" for it on Pinterest, I'm wondering how that holds up to the real stuff..! Thanks for sharing your favorites!!

  5. I love Grease Lightning, it's definitely one of the best spot treatments I've ever tried. I've had little samples of Glamglow before and I'd love to buy a full size, just wish it wasn't so bloomin' pricey!

  20. LOVE your blog name. I really like that you can see that you USE these products. Hate when bloggers write up a product and you can tell they barely use it.
