Foundation is something I really don't mind spending money on. With my work schedule and then running around all day on the days I'm off, I need a foundation that's going to be reliable. I know many of you mentioned that Tarte is a tough brand to find out of the U.S. right now but if there was one brand I would fully recommend to anyone it would have to be Tarte Cosmetics. Their foundations are my go to holy grail everyday products and if you're ever considering spending the money for international shipping I would definitely add these to your cart.
The Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation is honestly perfection in a squeezee tube. This foundation is just the best product I've used in all the years I've been messing around with makeup. Every time I go into Sephora I pick up another sample of this, just to keep back ups in my purse. The consistency is a whipped mousey texture that's very rich and creamy but also easy to manoeuvre. I'm in the shade medium-tan honey and it's quite pigmented so if you get the chance to; be sure to have someone colour match you. Whipped foundations are usually very matte but this one's formula dries to a smooth hydrating feel. What I like about it is that it never tends to focus in on my dry patches. Something a reliable foundation needs to do for me is last all day. By the end of the day I don't want it to draw more attention to my problem areas and this one never does. It really just has such a beautiful airbrush like finish where I can use it lightly on good skin days or build up the coverage when my skin is looking really rough. It is the holy grail of foundations and I couldn't imagine finding anything similar that works just as well.
Tarte also came out with a mineral foundation sometime last year and I also own and quite enjoy this foundation. The Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation is a mineral powder that is enriched with Amazonian Clay and is an absolutely beautiful product. I usually tend to opt away from powders because of my pores. Often mineral foundations like to really grab on and cake your face when you don't have perfect skin. This one is silky and finely milled with an awesome filter packaging that ensures you're not wasting too much product or caking it on. I'm pretty heavy handed when it comes to powders so this product definitely needs some getting used to but it creates such a gorgeous semi-matte light feeling finish that it's worth the learning curve. I'm in the shade light-medium neutral and this powder does sway towards the orangey side so I'd be very careful with choosing a shade. I do prefer the mousey foundation over the mineral one however, both are such necessities in my life. Tarte just does foundation well and it truly does not disappoint with it's promises. These foundations are both long wearing, have excellent coverage and are genuinely reliable when you don't have time for touch ups throughout the day.
Great post!:)
ReplyDeleteI never tried Tarte products, but I might now, because I really need a good foundation, and this one it seems great!

I'm literally dying to try out the mineral foundation, I have seen people use it in videos and it looks beautiful! Wish I could get my hands on it here in England :( xx
ReplyDeleteI have the 12-hour foundation and I use it interchangeably with my NARS. It was actually one of the first pricier foundations I ever bought, and I wasn't disappointed! Your review pretty much reflects my exact feelings about it. I think next time I might need to go a shade slightly darker. xx

These two particular foundations from Tarte have been on my wishlist ever since Essie Button raved about them, such a shame it's so difficult to get hold of in the UK x

Wow both of these sound fab, I have yet to try Tarte but have heard so many great things. I love the sound of the 12 hour full coverage foundation, and the packaging is different but really cute :) I may have to pop on QVC to see if they have some bits in stock :)

Really want to try the full coverage liquid but unfortunately I don't have the money to buy it at the moment, hopefully I'll be happy with the results when I eventually get round to purchasing!

I'm not the biggest foundation person & instead prefer a light powder, so the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation sounds spot on!

Ahh I really really want to try both of these-particularly the powder foundation. I normally use liquids but I really want to try one since it gives coverage and look natural :)

Mascara & Maltesers
Ahhh such pretty packaging! Why oh why are some of the more reliable and definitely more high performing cosmetics so hard to find here in England? Loving the sound of the airbrush foundation - but orengey anything is not my friend. So I think I'd prefer the amazon clay out of the two.

Ingrid Nilsen (Missglamorazzi) on you tube raves about the powder and it looks flawless on her. I've used mineral foundations before and I know what you mean, they do tend to cake in blemish prone areas! Need to try this!

That powder foundation is so good! I am desperate to try the liquid one!!
