My Favourite Natural Skin Care Remedies

I have always had troubled skin, acne and I have been close enemies since I was probably twelve or thirteen and growing up I was always self conscious about my skin. I never felt comfortable and always thought people were staring at my 'lovely' pimples or acne scaring. I tried basically everything to get my skin clear; I went the proactive route, I tried clearisil, drug store brands, organic products, you name it, I tried everything. And although some did manage to control my skin a bit, nothing lasted and when that wonderful time of month came around, my skin was looking horrible all over again. If you're someone who struggles with acne or break outs, you'll know that getting rid of them is such a process. It takes a good few days to actually get that pesky pimple off your face and out of your pores. I do think a big part of skin care is eating right, ever since I changed my nutrition plan and started losing weight, my skin also began clearing up. So, I would recommend the first step in controlling and bettering your overall skin would be to start paying attention to what you're putting in your body. Those greasy foods and artificial flavours are not going to affect your body well and your skin is going to show it.

Rather than spending loads of money on skin care products, recently I've been using some home remedies that have worked wonders on my skin. I go back to these two methods any time my skin is breaking out or I feel a pimple coming on. They're super easy and super effective and I would recommend them to anyone so, I thought I'd pass them on to you guys.

All you'll really need are some really basic ingredients. You'll need: A glass of water, a pinch of milk, baking soda, and chamomile tea. These are going to make my two favourite acne fighting home remedies and they seriously work!

Remedie #1 The Baking Soda Cleanser
Baking soda can be used for tons of things! It can be used as a deodorant, a toothpaste, and my favourite, as a face cleanser. Baking Soda can act as either a base or an acid which makes it a neutral on the pH scale and therefore helps it correct the pH imbalance of the skin that contributes to acne formation. It also has mild anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties which helps reduce inflamed acne, that's when your skin just feels like it's blooming and you have no idea how to really control it. Most importantly, baking soda has an array of different particles, there's rounded bits, hard bits, and also fine powders which mix to make a wonderful exfoliate. Now, this acne treatment is not going to work for everyone. Before you use it on your sensitive skin, test it on the back of your hand and make sure your body doesn't react negatively to the baking soda. Now, let's get to the easy peasy cleanser.

All you really have to do, is take 2 tea spoons of water and mix it with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Some people like to make a mask, but I prefer a light cleanser instead. If you would prefer a mask like texture just increase the dosage. Once you mix the two, with clean fingers and an already washed face go ahead and apply this mixture all over your skin. I like to grab the harder bits at the bottom and run those over my most acne prone areas such as my chin and cheeks. Then after about 30 seconds or so, go ahead and wash all the product off of your face, pat your face dry with a soft towel and go on with your skin care routine or finish off with a moisturizer. Baking Soda can be drying so make sure your skin has it's needed moisturizer. If you repeat this treatment a few times a week, you will see major results quickly and your acne prone skin will be more under control.

Remedie #2 The Camomile Milky Treatment
Chamomile Tea is derivative of the chamomile flower, a beautiful dainty little thing that resembles a daisy with it's beautiful white petals and yellow disc centre. Chamomile Tea is golden in colour and has a delicate but fruity flavour. The tea itself is great for helping with anxiety, insomnia, or even stomach pains. But what I like to use it for, is making a light face wash. It is instilled with amazing healing properties as well as antioxidant, cleansing, and moisturizing components. It accelerates the healing process and therefore I like to use it on my acne scarring and open pimples to get those babies to clear out a lot quicker. I like to mix it with milk because together they make a soothing component which also helps absorb excess oil from the skin. So here's how you do it.

Go ahead and boil a cup of water, I like to make a bigger quantity of this product so I can use it for a few days or until the milk gets sour. Once the water boils, add the tea bag and then splash in about a tablespoon of milk. Go ahead and let this sit for a bit, I usually don't take out the tea bag so that it's constantly being soaked in chamomile. You want to allow the water to cool down and the milk and tea to become better acquainted with each other. Make sure you never use too hot of a treatment on your skin, it's sensitive and you need to treat it lightly. Once it's at an adequate temperature for your skin, grab yourself some cotton swabs. Now, these aren't necessary, you can do this with just about anything; a washcloth, paper towel, or just your hands but I like to use a cotton swab when I have them lying around the house. Dab the cotton swab in the mixture and sponge it into your face. This one can get a bit messy. You want to make sure that your skin feels wet from the product and you can even just let it drip and run down your face as your applying. Then what I like to do is dab a soft towel on and let it sink into my pores overnight or during the day depending on whether or not I have to go out that specific day. In the mornings when I wake up, I just wash my face clean and moisturize. This treatment always helps reduce and sooth my acne, it's even shown amazing results to my acne scarring.

Overall, both of these remedies are super simple to make and really effective. You don't have to go out and spend loads of money on skincare products when you can make little cleansing remedies in the comfort of your own home. These have definitely helped me keep my skin under control and I feel so much more confident knowing that my skin looks and feels smoother, clearer, and healthier. For anyone suffering from acne breakouts or just wants some soothing ways to help your skin feel better, try these out and let me know if they work for you too!
