Carved Trees

I used to want to leave my mark on everything. Make sure I mattered. I needed to make sure that I wouldn't be forgotten. It was my biggest fear. I learned a lot about how the world works in that way. I learned that I may remember everything and things may be extremely important to me but that doesn't mean that I'll ever have the same affect on anyone else. It was easier to be forgettable than to give someone enough to remember me for.

I met a boy who wants to be remembered. He's the first memory in my passenger seat. He's the first carved letter into a tree. He's hard to forget, so I remember. I'll remember that tree, in the park with the swings, the rocks, and that feeling. I had to go back. I had to take pictures. Take something with me to hold onto; to remember; to forget.

A memory.
