Brand Testing : Caudalie

There are so many amazing brands in the beauty community that sometimes it's tough to really try out every one without breaking the bank. That's why I absolutely love value sets or gift sets with little travel sized products that really allow you to test out a variety of different types without having to splurge on the pricey full sized ones. Sephora and Ulta are only two of the many different stores that carry gift sets and I'm constantly browsing their website looking for new products that I really want to test out. One brand that has had me curious for quite some time was Caudalie. I constantly heard bloggers rave over the ever so popular Beauty Elixir and overall the brand seemed incredible intriguing. Now, Caudalie isn't the priciest of all brands however, they aren't particularly budget friendly either so when I saw this value set of some of Matilda Thomas' (the founder of Caudalie) favourite products I had to pick it up.

The set retails for $32 and has a value of about $57 so it's really a bang for your buck. It contains five products including the Beauty Elixir, Make Up Removing Cleansing Water, Hands and Nail Cream, a Moisturizing Sorbet, and a Lip Conditioner.

The Beauty Elixir is by far my favourite product of the bunch and it has been hyped up so much that if it weren't, I would be really disappointed. This product is so versatile and offers so many benefits that sometimes it blows my mind. Not only is it a toner, it's also a serum, midday refresher, and setting spray. It has these amazing plant extracts that are meant to tighten your pores and visibly smooth features. Now, I haven't been using it enough to agree with those claims but it definitely boosts the radiance in my face. I work long hours and a spritz of this stuff midday turns my zombie like appearance into a radiating glow. I'm not particularly keen on the smell of this product because it's quite strong but I can look past that when I'm thinking of all the pros that come along with this tiny little bottle.

If you've been reading my blog for a while you'll know I'm not the biggest fan of moisturisers or creams of any sort. Most of them are just sticky to me and their consistency leaves me feeling goopy and in need of a bath. The Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream and Moisturising Sorbet have completely left me speechless. These both are such lightweight creams that still do the job of smoothening and moisturising but don't feel sticky at all. I have dry patches on my nose and when I'm moisturising my face I like to rub a bit of the Sorbet on my T-Zone right before I apply makeup and it allows my pores to breathe and helps my foundation not stick to the dry patches as much. I will definitely be picking up a full size of this little guy. As for the Hand and Nail Cream, it's really lovely and probably my favourite of the sort however, I'm not sure I use Hand Creams enough to invest in the full size. Sephora does offer the travel size so I'll most likely be restocking this little guy and hopefully carrying him around in my purse for more use.

This product was one I wasn't sure I'd be using since I tend to stick to cleansers for my makeup removal but I was reading up reviews and lots of people actually use the Caudalie Make Up Remover Cleansing Water as a toner and it is simply amazing for that. I like to use this after my face is completely clean and rub it into my skin, getting the last bits of dirt off to have a fresh palette for the night. It is incredibly refreshing and feels similar to the Elixir. I have heard that you need quite a lot of this to actually remove makeup so I wouldn't recommend it for that but as a toner it's a gem.

Lastly, I tried out the Caudalie Lip Conditioner and I have to admit I'm on the fence about this product. I don't know if it's just me but sometimes when I start using a treatment such as a lip conditioner or hand cream, I begin to notice that the troubled area wasn't all that troubled but my new product is making it worse. I don't know if that really made sense. What I'm trying to say is, sometimes when I start conditioning my lips more, they get more chapped and dry which just baffles me. It happens with every lip care product I've used and I don't know if that's what's meant to happen before the actual product works but I'm not a fan of dry, chapped lips. This stuff feels lovely and goes on so creamy and for the first five minutes you feel like you're some kind of expert and you're doing all that jazz that will make your lips perfect. Then after a few hours, I start to notice my lips feeling super dry and chapped and it just requires you to keep applying this conditioner or some other balm. I'm just confused whether my lips are playing tricks on me or if I'm simply not using the right products. For other people, this lip conditioner may be holy grail however, for me it simply wasn't benefiting.

Overall, I loved this value pack. I got an assortment of products that I may have never tried out otherwise and I fell in love with a brand that I'd always heard great things about. Next time you're browsing your local beauty hub, check out their value sets and gift packets, you may find a new brand to fall in love with.

  5. I am obsessed with the beauty elixir, it just is the perfect in between washing and moisturising, r as a refresher during the day! Not tried anything else of theirs yet though. It's a shame about the lip balm, maybe it has alcohol in or an ingredient that is drying.
