Maybelline Color Sensational The Buffs Collection - Nude Embrace, Stormy Sahara, Truffle Tease, & Maple Kiss

Truffle Tease & Maple Kiss
Nude Embrace & Stormy Sahara

I am definitely a big fan of nude lipsticks. I prefer to reach for a nude over a bold lip colour on most occasions so, when I saw that Maybelline had released their Color Sensational The Buffs Collection, also known as the Maybelline Stripped Nudes in the UK, I was dying to pick up a few of these gorgeous lipsticks. They really created a diverse range of nudes that many drugstore brands don't carry. There are 8 nude shades available designed for every skin tone and the quality of these lipsticks are really amazing. They retail for around $7.49 and for the quality of these little guys, I'm really impressed.

I picked up four nudes all seemingly different but definitely flattering for my olive complexion. The lightest shade I purchased was Nude Embrace which is actually one of four, limited edition shades launched with the collection. The shade is a pinky purple nude that really gives the 'concealer lips' type of effect. It's not my favourite of the four however, it is a lovely colour that would work for fair skin tones beautifully. Stormy Sahara is a muted, neutral orangey tone that really gives me a little colour but still appears natural on the lips. I really love the natural soft shade of this colour.  My favourite of the bunch would have to be Truffle Tease which is a medium beige with brown undertones that is my absolute my lips but better shade. It's beautiful for everyday wear and I've been rocking it all week. Lastly, the darkest shade I picked up was Maple Kiss which is a muted, coppery brown that actually may be the perfect almost red for an olive complexion. It gives the feel of an elegant lipstick without having to be an extravagant shade. It's my nude bold lip which is something I'm more confident rocking most days.

The formula is medium coverage that can be buildable and these gems really glide on easily and create a beautiful finish. Personally, for drugstore makeup I'm really impressed with their lasting power because these hold steady for a good 4 to 5 hours, which on my lips is very rare even for high end lipsticks. They have a slight scent to them that I'm not entirely keen on but since their formula is so impressive, I don't mind. I really think Maybelline did an awesome job with this line because they created different nudes with varied undertones allowing everyone to find a shade that is able to work with their natural complexion. These lipsticks are fabulous and I really think ya'll should pick up a shade or two next time you happen into a drugstore.

Have you tried any of the Maybelline The Buffs Collection? Let me know, down bellow!

  4. So glad I found your blog yesterday during the #bbloggers chat! I love my lip but better type of nude. Rimmel Kate Moss 03 is my fave. I also want to get my hands on Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in complex as that looks like a gorgeous nude too!

  5. These look great. Annoyingly I got one in my Glossybox, but in the palest shade! It looks like a concealer! It's called something like Sultry Sand and I cannot imagine it suiting anyone - least of all a mixed race girl with olive skin (Glossybox do know my skin tone) - so I was a bit unimpressed by the range from my first impression. You've made them sound like they deserve another chance though. I love the look of Maple Kiss (and the name!) xx
