Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Celestial Review

Hey Guys, sorry I haven't really been around this past week. I've been dealing with all kinds of jitters and nerves surrounding my big trip in a few weeks that I've just not had the time to sit down and actually write up a blog post. This one is going to be pretty short and sweet and I do have to apologise in advance for the not so amazing picture quality. Do you ever have one of those days where you feel like every blog shot you take is just shit? That's been my whole week. The lighting has been killing me lately and although my iPhone really can produce some amazing photos sometimes, it's really been letting me down this week. So once again, I'm sorry.

On to the review thingymabob. I recently received my little order in the mail from Feel Unique and opened it up to find this lovely little lip gloss I ordered. Now, if you've been following me for a while or know me at all you will know that I am basically anti-lip gloss. I just do not like the stickiness or the glossiness and to be quite frank I feel like they usually really make lips just look gross. I don't find anything attractive about lip gloss, it kinda looks like you've been eating greasy pizza and all that nasty oily stuff has been left on your lips and you're walking around asking everyone to pucker up. Lip Gloss and I are just not friends, we're not buddies, we are not even home dogs. Okay, so why did I buy a lipgloss? I'll tell you why... the beauty blogs made me do it. You guys know what I mean! These Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers are EVERYWHERE. I've just heard everyone raving about them for ages now and about how they're just so fine and dandy and lovely and ugh, I couldn't go on anymore. I had to see what all this hype was about so against my better judgement, I bought myself a lip gloss. I picked up the Rimmel Apocalips in the color Celestial because it was the closest to a lip toned colour and was the only colour in their range that I felt I could wear in an everyday setting. Ya'll know I'm a 'my lips but better' lipstick junkie and am always looking for shades to enhance my natural lips. I tend to shy away from anything with a bit of pazass and glittery, sparkly, barbie lips just aren't my thing. Rimmels Lip Lacquers are made to be sort of a cross between a lipstick and a lip gloss, they have the pigmentation of a lipstick but come in a glossy application. They also have a semi-matte finish which doesn't dry out the lips due to the moisture already provided in the product.

Now, here's the shocker. I actually kinda sorta love this product. I know! I know! But I just made a big deal about hating lip gloss! It's just so nice feeling on the lips. Okay, let's start from the beginning. The packaging is super compact and a nice black tube and then you twist and open this baby up and you find the loveliest little applicator I have ever seen. I don't honestly know if every gloss out there comes with this kind of applicator now-a-days because I am not an avid gloss buyer but every lip goo I've ever purchased in the past has had horrible applicators. You know what I'm talking about, the squeeze tubes of doom, the brushes of sticky no-nos, the applicators of never ending puss. You get the point, but this little guy is just so lovely. It has sort of an indent in the middle where I feel like all that excess product goes for all the ladies who really like to slather it on but the sides are easy to manoeuvre and allow you to create a perfect lip shape. You do have to play with it a little to not get a ton of product on your lips but the applicator is just so soft and I really don't mind it at all. The actual product is well, glossy upon first application. It will look like you're wearing lip gloss and it's got the whole lip gloss thing going where you can feel it on your lips for ages and blah. I don't like that so what I do is actually blot the heck out of my lips. I blot and blot and blot until my lips are basically matte and the amazing part is... the product stays. It stays after some heavy blotting and really does dry matte. It doesn't actually even look like you're wearing lip gloss, the product just kind of transforms into your lips and after heavy blotting there aren't patchy marks that require retouching. It just stays! I really really like it guys.

The lasting power is pretty swell as well, it lasts a good five to six hours. I was at work today and didn't even bother bringing this along and by the time I got home after eight plus hours, I could still see a little rosy colouring on my lips. This colour is gorgeous as well, as I mentioned my photo taking skills are sucky this week but I will be posting a face of the day soon where I'll wear this lip colour and you guys can see how nice and pinky it is. It's just the nicest pink but with warm undertones that really work for medium complexions like mine. I never imagined anything pinky working for my lips but this colour really looks youthful and sweet.

I don't really know what else to say, the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers are pretty dang swell and I fully understand what all the hype is about. They can be really glossy but dry matte and have amazing lasting power. They also are very reasonably priced. I picked mine up for around €7 and they have tons of other shades as well. I'm going to be buying a few more as soon as I can get my hands on them in America. I like them and I can see why others do too.

Have any of you tried the Rimmel Apocalips Lacquers? What other shades should I pick up? Let me know what you thought about them in the comments down bellow!
