New Years Eve Makeup Look

New Years Eve. A night of fireworks and hopes and a celebration to welcome in another year. I don't know if it's just me but the holidays this year are coming so fast and going so soon that I don't even feel like it's about to be January 1st. It's crazy how our fast paced lives don't even allow us to enjoy the little moment anymore. Whether you're counting down the big ball drop or waiting patiently for your new years kiss, make this New Years Eve one to remember. Ladies, it's going to be a night you'll never forget and it's the perfect time to whip out some sparkly shades and striking colours.

For my New Years makeup I was inspired by the the golden city lights and the mixture of colours popping in fireworks all night. I started off my look by priming my face with the Tea Tree Pore Minimiser from the Body Shop. Since it's going to be a long night you want to make sure that you're using a primer to allow your makeup to last well past midnight. For foundation, I decided to go with one of my favourite drugstore brands. I have been using my high end foundations so much lately that I've neglected this little gem. The Revlon Colorstay Foundation in #13 is promised to hold for 24 hours and it applies so flawlessly that my skin looks smooth, natural, and photo ready. To brighten up the eyes and conceal any small blemishes, I used a new favourite of mine Maybelline's Dream Lumitouch Highlighting Concealer. It really illuminates the under eye area and make me look more awake and alive. I'm bound to get tired before midnight and this concealer will help keep my makeup looking fresh and flawless. To contour my nose and cheeks with a healthy glow I went with my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder which really blends out and creates that structured look to my rounded features.

We're gonna finish off the face in a bit but first, let's talk about eyes. The only product I've been using for my brows recently is the ever so famous Anastasia Brow Whiz in Brunette. It achieves the look of natural, full brows that frame the face perfectly. I don't know about you guys but I always have a love hate relationship with my brows, I'm half middle eastern so I'm forced to do some plucking everyday and this brow whiz really allows me to be confident with my full brows. The little spully on the end keeps all my hairs in place as well which is just an added bonus. On an important night like this one, I love having a brow product that doesn't require retouching and really keeps all my fine hairs in line. To start off my eye look, I decided to go with a base coat of the Maybelline Color Tattoo in the colour Eternal Gold. Since my shadows are going to highlight a gold base colour, this creamy eyeshadow has just the right hint of sparkle and shine to really draw attention to my eyes but not overwhelm their small shape. To add a little more pigmentation, I grabbed my Naked 2 Palette and using the Real Techniques Accent Brush, I patted on a mixture of Half Baked and Bootycall. Half Baked is a gorgeous gold shimmer that when mixed with Bootycall really softens the look and works as a lovely lid colour for my hazel eyes. For my crease I decided to go in lightly with YDK from the palette and once that was nice and blended I inched in a touch of drama with Busted. Busted is a lovely deep brown that really pulled the whole look together. Moving onto eyeliner, I used my Nars Paint Pot in Mesopotamia to create a perfect winged line. I have to admit I was pretty proud of myself for not messing up the wing on either eye. The colour is a deep brown and still adds drama without having to use a harsh black liner. When it comes to lashes most beauty gals love using some falsies especially on special occasions such as New Years Day. If you're a simple girl like me and cannot be fussed with having to worry about an eyelash disaster all night, use a lengthening mascara that really extends the lashes and creates volume. I've been trying out the Benefit They're Real Mascara and although upon first use I wasn't too impressed, the more I play with this mascara the more I come to like it. I really love that it doesn't clump easily and still creates insane length and volume. To finish off the eyes, I just ran the Nars paint on my waterline about half way and then using that same Accent Brush, I carried the Eternal Gold Colour Tattoo highlighting my tear ducts and in to meet the deep brown middle.

Ready for that wow factor? You know that a neutral smokey eye requires some vavavoom lip action. The perfect red lip can only be created with my favorite Nars Lip Pencil, Cruella. The matte finish of this colour is perfect for a long night and touch ups are so easy, you can pop this little guy in your purse and always freshen up the look. To clean up all fall out and also mattify and perfect the overall look, I used my favourite setting powder, the Too Faced Primed and Poreless Powder. This is like an extra primer ontop of everything to really conceal any blemishes or enlarged pores and also keep the makeup completely in tact for as long as possible. I let my locks down and straightened them out some and here's the finished look. I love the wow factor New Years calls for and the golds and shimmers really remind me of the flashing lights in the city and dancing colours in the fireworks. That pop of red is just the finally to an amazing night.
