Mascara is something that I truly believe completes a look. Even on those days where I'm trying to look as natural as I can while still wearing makeup, I like to coat on the mascara. For some strange reason when I was younger, I never valued mascara and rarely ever wore it. I look back at middle school photos and see these horrifying panda eyes with no lashes and I even recall telling my mom that I had some kind of genetic issue because I had absolutely tiny lashes. Turns out I don't.. I was just not applying it correctly. Don't you just love laughing at the horrifying makeup crimes you committed when you were younger?
Anyway, I had been using the L'oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara for ages and in early February my wand actually broke inside the packaging. I was absolutely devastated. It had been my go-to mascara and I never really had to think about what product I was going to use to achieve my lash look. So, I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and ended up not repurchasing the Telescopic Mascara right away and instead browsing different brands and trying out new mascara products. I picked up high end mascaras such as the Benefit They're Real or Makeup Forever Smoky Extravagant Mascara and even some drug store finds such as the L'oreal Butterfly Mascara but nothing seemed to compare. I did fall in love with some of the new products but my lashes were never as long or as striking as before. So, this past weekend I happened into a Rite Aid and picked up my old faithful mascara the L'oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara.
The wand is really interesting on this bad boy. It's small bristles allow your lashes to extend and really lengthens and curls each strand every time. This product does leave your lashes looking a little spidery but personally I enjoy that look and I think it really adds such a gorgeous finish to my eye makeup. It also does give me quite a bit of volume and I usually use about two to three coats of this. It lasts all day and is just so freakin super. I don't need to work on the mascara for ages to make it look right, it just does it naturally and for girls with small eyes like mine, this product adds a spark of attention to your eyes even for those days where you're only wearing mascara.
What really convinced me that this product was so important was that once I ran out of it, I truly found myself missing it in my daily routine. My lashes just didn't look the same and I'm glad to have this baby back in my life. For around $10 this mascara beats a lot of high end ones for me so if you haven't already tried it, it's an oldie but definitely a goodie.
